7000 Starbucks will be closing their doors today. Not forever, just from 5:30pm – 9:00 pm local time. Why? The baristas will be “retrained” in the Art of Espresso according the Starbucks website.  They’re calling it part of a “Transformation Agenda”.

Dunkin Donuts is calling it an opportunity.

Dunkin, from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm today, will reduce their price for all small lattes, cappuccinos and espressos to 99 cents.

Not sure who’s going to end up on top in this battle of the beans. Perhaps it’s a good time, all you Starbucks customers, to rediscover your local coffee house.
